Parrot University is an authorized dealer for Wingdow, Bird Toys Etc. and Batik, Canada. Parrots boarding with us enjoy the use of Wingdows so that they can see beyond their room while protecting the woodwork! All our birds are crazy about BTE's "kitchen sink" as well as other PVC and stainless toys by them. You must see Batik's beautiful sarongs to appreciate their beauty. They truly are wearable art. Also available are parrot molas handmade by the Indians of the San Blas Islands, Panama. They can be made into lovely pillows, clothing, and wall hangings. Also many wonderful custom framed bird prints are available for purchase.

About Amber

Meet Amber. With a BS in Biology from the College of Charleston, her professional experience includes South Carolina Aquarium, Center for Birds of Prey, San Francisco Zoo, Tracy Aviary, Carolina Raptor Center and Atrium Animal Hospital. Shortly after Amber began volunteering at CPR, she stepped into the position of Store Manager at Parrot U.

During a recent interview, Amber shared some information about herself as well as her thoughts about the future of Parrot University and Companion Parrots Re-homed.

"I have been passionate about animals for as long as I can remember, and have always had a strong desire to make a difference and leave my mark on the world. I'm so excited about owning Parrot University! So far the days feel the same, only with more paperwork. Parrot University has a solid foundation after nine years in business and I look forward to continuing and expanding our brand.

My most rewarding experience so far is my involvement with the relinquishments and adoptions of the CPR Adoption Program. People always ask "isn't it hard for you to let the birds go" and when I really think about it, it's not. I love these birds with all of my heart and I get to be there for them from relinquishment to adoption and it's a very humbling experience. Relinquishments aren't easy, but I'm grateful to be there for the families when they make the difficult decision to give up their bird. These are good people to whom life threw a curveball and they chose to do what they thought was best for their pet.

I love every aspect of the adoption process, from the first time families come into the store - introducing them to the birds, watching them form a bond with "their" bird, calling to tell them their adoption has been approved and finalizing the logistics of the day they take their bird home. I've participated in nearly 50 adoptions last year and I consider every single one of them a part of my family. I get updates on how the birds are doing, which is the ultimate reward.

At Parrot U, I don't anticipate making any drastic changes - why mess with success? Ultimately Parrot University and CPR are interconnected and they cannot be successful without each other. Every time a customer purchases food, toys, or other products from Parrot U, they're supporting a small business and ultimately ensuring the continuation of Companion Parrots Re-Homed".

Please join us in congratulating Amber and please stop in to see her.
